The Pandemic and Life Before It

Like many people can say, 2020 has been awful. People have lost jobs, family members, and grieve the normalcy they once enjoyed. I’ve checked all the boxes. I lost a family member, my baby (my dog), my job and work-family, and yes, my normalcy.

My normalcy was my strict schedule of an early bedtime (my friends joked about what a granny I was), work in the morning, a smoothie for lunch, and then the long drive home where I zoned out- exhausted from work. I wasn’t exactly having a great time.

All that said, the pandemic did take my whole life and spring it across the room like laundry.

When my dog died, I became nocturnal from grief-stricken insomnia. Now I just can’t sleep.

My job on a daily basis made me exhausted but I was rarely “busy”. Now, I cannot find enough hours in the day. I don’t think I’ve ever been as busy as I am now.

This is partly by design. I cope with busyness.
