Boomers, Facebook, and “Work”
Oh boy, another “okay boomer” article. You know, I do not really want to be that kind of writer, but after Hurricane Zeta, some things became real. So I’m going to write about it.
I live right in the path of where Hurricane Zeta set its trail of destruction. Everyone in my area lost their power and internet- some people lost more, like their boat that still sits in the Burger King parking lot. Or they may have lost part of their roof. All in all, it was one of the rougher hurricanes to pass by in a few years.
Fun fact about me: I hate Facebook. I hate how it's the echo chamber for my relative's ill-informed strong opinions. I hate having to regularly be disappointed by someone I thought was cool’s lame opinion. And I hate Facebook as a dishonest, corrupt company.
But I stay for the business-related groups where I’ve enjoyed little pockets of the community.
So I did a lot of watching the local city’s Facebook group feed. People posted to ask, “who has power?” People would respond, what street they’ve gotten their power back. I finally got my power back after 24 hours and was thrilled. I waited another day but no improvements on the internet.
