Any entrepreneur is going to fail. The US Bureau of Labor Statistics says 20% of small businesses fail in the first year. Within five years, 50% of them fail.

That is a whole lot of failure going around.

One of my love/hate (maybe more love/frustrated with? “Love/disagree on a few things with.” I don’t at all hate this person and her work) role models, Renee Christine, always quotes Dumb and Dumber when it comes to the business world. When the main character gets informed that they have a 1% chance of ever “getting the girl,” he says, “So you’re saying I have a chance.”

Or, as she’s also put it when bringing up the “8 out of every ten businesses fail” line: “Okay, so I’ll start ten businesses.”

These little sayings have given me the fire to press on in my choices. But I’ve also found a few motivational mantras of my own that have helped me along the way.

There is no failure in life, only learning opportunities. — Maneet Chauhan

(I could not definitively figure out who said this first. I got names from Pitbull to Tony
